5. Working with competencies

Video guide

Level 1: Select a user

If you are working on your own competencies, then this will just be a case of starting on your

My profile

tab at the bottom of the screen; you will see your profile here automatically

If you are working on one of your supervisees, then first go to

Teams

tab at the bottom, and then tap on the appropriate supervisee:

Level 2: Select “All active competencies”

On the profile page, the first bar you see is the status bar for this user / your own competencies, titled

All active competencies

Tap on it to see a list of competencies

You can also see here the “Job Descriptions” section, which is where supervisors can change the competencies that this person has in their portfolio. See Changing competencies for an existing supervisee for further details.

Level 3: Select the relevant competency

Here you can select from all the competencies currently assigned to this user.

Tapping on the

Current Status

bar will show you the breakdown of competencies by status.

Tapping on the filters underneath will filter for competencies that (L→R)

  • Have evidence to review
  • Are coming due soon
  • Are already late

Tapping on a competency will take you to its overview.

Level 4: Competency overview

This screen gives you overview information about this competency. What you see here will depend on the setup and status of the competency, but may include

  • The library this competency came from
  • An option to Start or continue progress on this competency, if it is being worked on
  • Details of the status of that competency, including any due dates
  • Access to the PDF certificate for this competency, if completed
  • Reference material for the competency
  • Any inter-dependencies for this competency, i.e. other competencies needed to be completed ahead of this competency or those that depend on this competency being completed
  • The history of this competency, including renewals, restarts, localisation etc.
  • Options to Revoke or Localise this competency

If the competency requires further work, you can tap

Start now

or similar to see the details of what needs to be completed in this competency.

Level 5: Competency stages

Within a competency, you will then be able to see all the stages that are either

  • Required - must be completed for the competency to be signed off
  • Optional - do not have to be completed for the competency to be signed off

Tapping on any stage will take you into the details of that stage

Already achieved

If the competency can be signed off “Retrospectively”, i.e. by submitting existing evidence of competency rather than completing the stages, then you will see a button that says

Already achieved?

You will not see this button if:

  • One or more stages have already been started
  • This option has been disabled by the competency author

Tapping on this button will allow the supervisee to submit evidence for the supervisor to sign-off, or the supervisor to sign off directly.

See Retrospective competencies for further details on this feature
